New Scholarship applications will be available in January of 2010 for the 2010-2011 academic year. Please call the Valley office to request your applications so they may be mailed to you (614-766-2272 or 800-344-9741). Please note: The deadline to have the completed applications and accompanying paperwork back to the Valley office will remain April 1, 2010. Incomplete applications and/or missing requested accompanying paperwork will not be considered by the committee. No faxed applications will be accepted. Once completed, please mail applications and documentation (by the April 1st deadline) to: 32nd Degree Masons, Valley of Columbus Attn: Susan Henderson 290 Cramer Creek Court Dublin, OH 43017 Please note the following requirements for eligibility before requesting an application: -
A current high school senior or incoming freshmen; or -
A currently enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an accredited college or university. -
A minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. -
A child or grandchild of a 32nd Degree Mason, belonging to the Valley of Columbus. -
A member of a youth organization sponsored by the Masonic Fraternity. -
A graduate of one of the 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Centers for Children. The Valley of Columbus, in conjunction with the Supreme Council Charities, works to see that children of 32nd Degree Masons receive financial assistance to complete their education. One of the basic tenets of our beliefs is that people can reason together to solve problems and thus be better in serving our selves, our family and our community. Education is an important tool to help us achieve our fullest potential. The Valley of Columbus Scholarship Program was begun in 1986 and since that time over $235,000.00 has been awarded. Scholarships range in amounts from $450.00 to $1,250.00 and is paid directly to the academic institution. For the year of 2004, the Valley of Columbus awarded a total of $22,850.00 in financial assistance. Of the $22,850.00 that was awarded $9,200.00 was received from the Supreme Council Abbott Funds. For the year of 2004, the Valley of Columbus received 75 applications and scholarships were awarded to 31 students. Each spring the Scholarship Committee for the Valley of Columbus meets to determine who will receive funds for the coming academic year. Applicants must be children or grandchildren of 32nd Degree Masons, members of youth organizations sponsored by the Masonic Fraternity or graduates of a 32nd Degree Learning Center. An applicant must be a graduate of a public or private secondary/preparatory school. It is important for the applicant to complete the application and to follow the written instructions.
